Thank you Jean, Must write for the research you mention!!
On a more practical basis........We have also been supporting nurses during
their Project 2000 course. If they qualify for a computer we try to find
the Brody's medical CD-ROM or equivalent and the portable digital medical
dictionary spellchecker related to drugs from CardiaCare (sadly there
does not appear to be a straightforward medical spellchecker...Franklin
stopped making it although it is possible there is an American edition).
Medical Dictionary Brody's (dollars 59.95) or Taber's Medical Dictionary
CD-ROM (ISBN 0306-1) Price is approx dollars 44.95 + postage F.A. Davis
Company, 1915 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103 USA ( I am still trying
to find UK suppliers!!)
Digital Book system with Drug Spellchecker (DBS1 + IC-145) Cardiocare, 21
George Street, London W1H 5PE 0171 935 5446 (Discuss with J.E.Treble Esq.)
£119.15
These are not ideal aids and we are aware that the nurses are monitored and
concerned about admitting any difficulties. I have also made databases of
suitable words in the past and added them to AutoText in Word or they could
be added to a hand held organiser e.g. Psion.
Happy Christmas and New year to all
Best wishes,
E.A.
