Dear All
Another query: the news that the DSA will not be means tested from
Sept 98 entry is certainly excellent.
However does anyone know whether:
A) students who have previously been refused the DSA on grounds of
high income (but who are still studying in 98) can now re-apply?
B) Can students who were previously not entitled to the DSA & who
have purchased equipment which they are still using for their course
claim for their purchases made prior to Sept 98?
To explain the background: I have a 1st year student with a fairly
severe sight difficulty, this year he was refused the DSA on high
income grounds. His parents have already paid for a substantial
amount of equipment which he will obviously continue to use from Sept
98 until the end of his course in July 2000. Would he be able to
claim back some or all of the cost of the equipment already purchased?
If people would reply to me personally I'll post a summary to
everyone. Thanks.
Merry Christmas to you all.
Regards, Deb
