I've had no problems with speech input so far, although some LEAs
need everything explained in words of one syllable and with diagrams.
If your bod can use her hands to some degree she should be able to
manage with something like SimplySpeaking, which is extremely cheap,
plus a trackball, perhaps. Even DragonDictate - which is great for a user who has little
or no hand movement for mouse etc - is available for less than stlg100.
She will be able to get a good system for around stlg2k, and she is, after all,
entitled to the whole equipment grant IF she needs it.

Dear all,
I have a student with chronic and severe tendonitis in both wrists- her
LEA has just
turned down a request for a computer and voice-activated software from her
DSA saying it was too expensive. (It was well within the equipment
allowance). Has anyone else managed to get similar equipment for someone
in a similar position?
