We (Computability) have had a few chats about this issue with Microsoft,
after wanting to use Intellipoint with alternitive pointing devices
(joysticks, trackballs, not MS etc.). This resulted in Microsft agreeing to
sell (not necessarily market/premote) this software on its own.
You will also find 3rd party software (shareware is a good start) which will
also perform similar functions, someone mentioned Metamouse earlier, thats a
good example.
