Hi Phil
this is a very complex problem. At this time( to my knowledge) there
is no software that can translate maths notation into Braille.
The problem in its simplest form is that maths notation is not linear
in the same way that is true of text.
The translation software would have to 'comprehend' powers, Greek
letters and the influence they exert on the following
expressions,levels etc.
There is ongoing work at several American institutions in this very
area but as far as I am able to find out, still a very long way to go.
I tried to support one of my students doing a science degree and came
up against the very same brick wall as you have!!
I would be delighted to be proven incorrect in this!
All the best
Alan.
