Have just had a query from a member of staff involved in the development
of a new building. They want a back-up system for wheelchair users to be
able to access other floors if the lift should be out of order or being
serviced. Putting in a second lift would cost about 80,000 pounds so
anything less than that would be greeted with cries of joy. So far I have
suggested investigating some sort of platform lift, or possibly a
stand-alone piece of equipment (although I am not certain about the Gimson
Stairmate - does anyone have any experience of this or anything similar?)
Does anyone have any further suggestions? All ideas gratefully received!
