At London Guildhall students who require amanuensis in
exams have not, to date, been expected to find the cost of
of this provision. Last year the department that organised
note takers in exams spent £ 6000 from its part time
staffing budget. As for DSA being used to fund special exam
provision. Exam support could be described as a "course
related need" and therefore fundable through DSA. But then
again, DSA guidelines state: "where an institution makes
special or flexible arrangements for its disabled students
for the delivery and assessment of the curriculum, it should
meet any associated costs as part of providing the course"
Take your pick.
As for voice activated computers in exams. I would be
happy to recommend such a facility as long as the student
had an adequate voice file on a system at the University.
