Gail,
Each student's needs are looked at and provision is made accordingly. As a
rule of thumb, students receive 25% extra time but if they need more to meet
their particular needs this is arranged. Most students with special
arrangements sit their examinations in a separate room which is organised by
the Department.
Some of our students need the use of a word processor + time for printing
their work; some have amanuensis if this meets their needs; some need rest
periods because of complex difficulties.
Departments are most accommodating and following recomendations after I have
assessed the students' needs. Each Department has an examination officer who
deals with the fine details but recommendations have to be sent to Academic
Registrars for approval.
