hello Victoria,
yes, I have had some success with LEA's but it varies. Increasingly,
I find only students with severe medical problems or mobility
difficulties who cannot access University computers where email contact with
tutors if very helpful and where a lot of course
info is on the net are getting funding.
Also some visually impaired students if the course notes are on the
net, as this makes them accessible via enlargement, or voice
software.
stlg165 per quarter sounds like a lot to me. Calls to the net are charged at local rates,
subscription is about stlg68 per annum for internet facilities, so the
student sounds like they are on the NET for long periods of time. .
Unless this is related to the nature of the students impairment I
think the LEA may baulk at the cost.

Hello,
Has anyone been able to get an LEA to pay for the cost of internet
charges and usage from home for charges relating to coursework. One of
our students is spending an extra stlg165.00 on his phone bill per quarter
on course related internet work.
I think this was discussed on dis-forum before but I can't find it in the
archives - sorry!
