Just a quick follow up on the subject of for Microsoft Educational Software which I started some time ago. Ian Francis has managed to find someone in Microsoft who has given us some encouraging information, which for the time being we will follow up and comeback to you all when we have some more positive information.
In my last note I did indicate my concern over the ability of dyslexic students to handle forms, a comment which was considered over the top by one or two people. Just to update you on that situation we have sent out 13 licences to be filled in and signed and have to date, over eight days later, received five replies, three of which are incorrectly filled in and have had to go back to the student a second time.
My concerns over the forms been correctly filled in are genuine and such concerns must be communicated strongly to anybody who considers that the student licence solution is the correct solution.
It has been our policy when issuing machines, which are part of an assessment requiring a student licence, to ensure that the software is pre-loaded for their use during the period of time that it takes to get the licence. Although it is not our job to follow up on such things, and we have not, it is my belief that on most occasions the student licences will still be in the original form in the boxes that are sent to the students with their computers. If anybody has any feedback on the situation we would be grateful for it.
