In case you haven't come across the conference flyer from Skill yet,
I'm using this opportunity to publicise a joint Skill/School of
Education, University of Huddersfield event on March 19th.
"Learning in mind:good practice in post-school education for people
with mental health difficulties" - a one day conference.
Target audience: For teachers and disability co-ordinators in
further, higher and continuing education; social services; health
authority staff; and staff and volunteers in voluntary agencies.
The event will also provide a launch for the training pack based on
the work of the Lancashire Adult Education and Mental Health
Consortium. Lead speaker is Duncan Hebblethwaite, Student Project
Worker, IRISS Project, N.S.F. (providing a mental health service
users' perspective). There will be work
shops on -
- understanding mental health difficulties
- multi-agency working
- using the action pack/training video from Lancs. County Council
- higher education perspectives
- Schedule II (F.E.F.C.) and students with mental health problems
- community education
The implications of the F.E.F.C. Tomlinson Committee Report will be
led by Deborah Cooper, Director of Skill.
Cost for the day is stlg40 + V.A.T.
