We have been informed that as we open our Uni as a Conference Centre
in the summer, the DDA applies to us. The Conference Centre is a
business.
There is a similar argument that any postgrad or part-timer (we have
Adult Ed here) who pays for their course is buying a service and the
DDA applies to them. The part-timers at evening classes have use of
the library, so our library would come under this.
Also, certain areas of the Uni are open to members of the public, so
again the DDA applies. Strangely, I am told the library is
deemed to be open to members of the public, as all graduates have
library cards.
This is withouth considering employees' rights, e.g. lecturers,
lecture theatre technicians, lab technicians, canteen assistants, me,
etc.
