I have loaned the above piece of kit to a student who has bi-lateral
sensory-neural hearing loss and wears 2 post aural hearing aids, to give
us some feedback/assessment of its performance.
His comments follow and I would be interested to hear from anyone who
has any other feedback.
"To hear from the folder you will have to put your head over the folder
to make the most of it.
When using the folder it will pick up just about everything you do not
want to hear. For example, if windows are open you can hear vehicles
driving by, and if people make noises with their pens, etc.
If the room was totally quiet then yes it is good to use but you might
as well use your hearing aids instead as there is not a lot of
difference in the sound level. So I think this is a waste of time -
why? Because my microphone on the front of my hearing aids will pick up
the sound from the front of my face, where the folder will pick up just
about sound it hears."
