There are specialist equation editors available, for typesetting maths,
Mathcad is one, but I'm not sure of the names of others - there are often
adverts in New Scientist.
Ami Pro also contains an equation editor like word, but I find them both a
bit limited.
There is also a very good little program which comes with Corel Draw 5 and I
presume with version 6 as well. This is a stand alone program, you cannot
print from it or save, but you prepare your equation, and then you can
either paste it into your main application, or use OLE to get it in. The
editor is written by Design Science Inc., so presumably they write more
advanced versions.
