A good starting point might be to look at what SCAA and the GCSE/GCE Joint
Forum now do. Students will expect to be treated at least as well at HE.
Permit "what the student uses in the classroom" in the way of technology
and support, providing this does not compromise the purpose of the exam,
puts it in a nutshell.
Expecting a student who word-processes lecture notes to hand write an exam
is only going to result in writer's cramp after 15 minutes and is not
going to be made 'fair' by giving extra time, but it does happen.
