Dear all
Where students with disabilities need special exam provision (amanuenses,
exams in separate rooms with own invigilators etc) who pays the extra costs
involved? Currently at Aston departments meet the extra costs but some
academic departments feel the costs should be met centrally, either from
the examinations office or a designated special needs budget. If not, they
argue, students are treated inconsistently and departments may be
discouraged from accepting students with disabilities because of the extra
costs they incur. What happens at other institutions?
If I get a reasonable number of replies I will compile a summary. Thanks in
advance for your help.
