I am a note-taker employed to take notes for disabled students at the
Uni of Leeds. I type on to a laptop and provide a print out - after
correction. Any deaf student can read the lecture at the time it is
happening.
Though I say it myself, this is a skilled job, and you need to be an
exceptionally fast typist to keep up.
Unfortunately this does notn work for s cience subjects. You cannot
type equations as they are said, you cannot do diagrams, etc.
At Leeds we also have a Science student who needs a notetaker, and
the lecturers answer to the problem is that that student does not
attend lectures! I am sure we all agree that is not acceptable. I
am asking for help from postgrads.
