There are 2 possible solutions, but they will depend on your students
useful sight and her personal preferneces. Zoomtext, is software
whicg will enlarge the screen display and has the capability of
changing forground and background colours in order to improve
contrast. Most recent version also works with Win 95. The other
soloution that of speech output requires a screen reader application.
Such things as Text Assist in general do not provide a high enough
degree of screen access to be useful to a visually impaired user,
from experience I have found Jaws for Windows to be the best screen
reader for the Windows environment, most recent version work with
Win. 3.1 and Win 95. It supports most synthesizers, a further
consideration for a visually impaired user operating a Win
environment is that the point and click principal of such systems is
often not a viable means of operating such a system. It is extreemly
valuable for a visually impaired user to learn the Win shortcut keys,
this will greatly improve their productivity.
