Hi there Elizabeth
We here at Middlesex have adopted the same attitude as has
Westminster, the department pays!
There is another dimension to this, that dimension is 'embedding'.
If all 'disability support,SPld,Special Needs' etc is centralized our
service continues to be 'bolt on'.
It is,I feel, absoloutly essential that we try to devolve
responseability for administrative support to 'school'(in the
University sense)or campus level.
Once we have developed the support elements needed for a particular
disability, most of what follows is administrative and best served by
the student administration of the particular school or campus.
Further, it is quite beyond the scope of the average support
department to, under a modularized structure, pull all of the
strings.
All the best.
Alan.
