I am sorry I cannot help. I am also interested in the awarding gap of international students. Certainly, our data here at Lancaster University shows that there is an international Chinese students awarding gap.

Could you please reshare the study you refer to. I cannot see the attachment.

Apologies for cross-posting.

One of the departments I work for asked me to investigate the attainment and academic performance of international male Chinese students. They were scoring lower than other demographics in the cohort. There are a lot of reports and studies out there about the BAME attainment gap, but this is directed at UK-domicile students. When I started searching online, I did find this helpful study, but it's from 2019. Are any institutions researching this or have any resources, reports, or guides they can point me to?
