Happy Wednesday everyone.
Does anyone have an informed insight (preferably via experience) of using targeted marketing to promote public health?
By targeted, I mean profiling individuals social media and internet traffic via Facebook Pixel (or similar) tracking and using our existing datasets to identify 'lookalike' profiles.
(I'm uncomfortable just writing that...)
The good intention at the end of this faintly sulphurous road is around identifying and targeting people at risk of suicide and bringing them into contact with mental health services. It's well documented that a significant proportion of deaths by suicide are individuals not known to any services at all.
I find myself asked to balance the harm of intrusive processing and invasion of privacy, against the opportunity to prevent loss of life.
If you have any insight or constructive feedback, please do contact me on or off list.
