I haven’t seen it posted to the list yet but John Ioannidis (replicability etc) has written a piece making exactly this point - and therefore highlighting the uncertainty around CFR. He seems to miss a lot of evidence from countries that have done a far more systematic job of testing. Indeed he appears to ignore the Wuhan experience as reported by WHO completely, as the comments note.

His argument is that the extreme responses may be over-reaction. They may be, but who would take the risk of waiting for the data we really need?!
