The Regulation in question is the "Regulation (EEC, EURATOM) No 1182/71 of the Council of 3 June 1971 determining the rules applicable to periods, dates and time limits" available at https://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:31971R1182:EN:HTML
I agree entirely that this is the law until such time as EU regulations cease to apply or are replaced etc. and therefore this is the rule to follow.

I was told at a meeting a while back by a representative of the ICO that this interpretation came from a ECJ decision about the meaning of "a month" in EU legislation. I don't recall the name of the decision being mentioned.
We are sticking to 30 calendar days on the basis of certainty and consistency until we are told to change.
