And there is always s10 DPA2018 and Schedule 1 Para 8 to consider, subject to dealing with fair processing / transparency requirements and managing objections as per para 8.
However the bottom line as in all similar cases is that SIR need to satisfy you of a sound legal basis and process. The burden is on them, not you, to do this and unless and until they do it should be a simple "no".
They should provide you with a comprehensive DPIA as a starter. It would be grossly inefficient to expect 10000 employers to do this themselves from scratch.
