I think Recital 81 make it possible to continue to comply, where a DP holds an accreditation / certification in respect of a DPA / GDPR - approved CoC (or equiv), and the DC is happy that said accreditation's renewal checks would turn DPA audits into an exercise in duplication.
Open to alternative views though.
