Perhaps I am letting my prejudices get the better of me. Perhaps I also disagree with ICO's apparent view that if a marketing email is sent to me personally at work (as many are) as opposed to my company, I am not an individual subscriber, although I agree his case seems stronger than mine... There may be a legal basis but I do not think it is "fair".
Bottom line I think it is poor practice and since in any event objections need to be respected, it is better (in my view) not to do it. Most companies have generic contact details and those should suffice.
