Under GDPR - no. They are neither controller nor processor.
It is possible to have circumstances where they might have common law civil liability - depending on what exactly they have done. Being an employee does not for example prevent you being sued for professional negligence - Merrett v Bebb (2001). But there are limitations. As an individual I am not strictly bound by HRA for example.
