I agree with Owen that GDPR has not fundamentally changed consent (ordinary or explicit) although the clarity provided by recital 42 on the detriment issue is perhaps the closest to a change in my view*
I agree about a gap analysis and being clear on method for privacy notices - typically a layered approach for the technical details. Nevertheless there IS a clear gap which GDPR and guidance do not directly address - very few existing privacy notices will have addressed e.g. retention periods.
* Although I'm not sure if the authorities really believe recital 42 - the Art 29 WP guidance has some examples of "consent" where withholding would cause clear and obvious detriment
