You may recall Private Eye and others recently running articles on Elected Members who were in default with their council tax.
With local elections due in May this year, what are your thoughts on including an opt in on Elected Members Declaration of Acceptance of Office forms along the lines of - I do give permission for the Monitoring Officer to check my personal Council Tax information annually so as to ensure that there is no contravention the requirements of S.106 of the ….Act?
I am struggling with whether or not this could be considered as valid consent, or whether it amounts to pressure of a sort?
