Good morning Karl,
I think use of an outside company for transcription for interviews is relatively common across the public (police forces and social services) and private sector (e.g., solicitors). If you took the steps you suggest below and contract as per a processor agreement I imagine you may be taking more robust steps than many others...

Subject: [data-protection] PACE interviews
Good morning everyone
I'm working with a police force who have a backlog of recorded PACE interviews that need transcribing.
They are considering using a third party transcription service - this would involve uploading the files using "the latest security and encryption technologies" (which we will verify), all their staff sign confidentiality agreements, and files are to be deleted from their servers within an agreed time period after completion. They will be bound by a non disclosure agreement.
This is making me feel uneasy - and my instinct is to advise them not to proceed with this because of data protection concerns. Has anyone else used such a service? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks in advance
