Roland,
Thanks for the post. Yes, shotguns are readily available after a waiting period.
The issue of restricted purchases is something that is now of increased interest in the age of big data.
I know that some items can only be purchased with the appropriate licence. In other cases, what might have been household items are now either diluted or no longer for sale over the counter.
What is curious is that in years past people could get hold of a lot more in a pharmacy, in terms of raw ingredients, than they can collect today as the items or the ingredients are either put into benign products or benign, but effective, replacements are brought to market.
In a sense, the consumer chemical market is now closer to a safety by design, similar to the hope with personal data of privacy by design, and in doing so it takes further initiative and experimentation away from the individual.
We may have privacy but will we be able to exercise any free will beyond what is designed into the system for us?
Best,
Lawrence

My GP says that one glass of wine a day is better for one's heart than no alcohol. Dr's orders then...

In the USA people would typically buy bottles of 500. But then, a teenager can buy a shotgun and ammunition in Walmart too.

With a generic packet of 16 typically 30p, who wouldn't pay cash?
