I have had students claim Amazon materials from DSA with SFE funding
body with no issue. I'd cite being able to order from Amazon or online
as a likely disability need for many students as they will deliver so
the student doesn't have to manage physically getting into and going
round shops as well as being cost effective compared to big names like
Waterstones. Campuses are increasingly closing their on-site bookshops
which were much more expensive and less well stocked than online sources.
I think if Amazon and other online-only retailers are excluded then this
DSA funding body should have made that *explicitly* clear in their
approval letter. Otherwise the student is going to be modern and order
from Amazon like everyone else does... I've argued this sort of thing
with the Research Councils and got them to concede before now.
Ugh, poor student. Hope you get some sensible answers and are able to
get things sorted.
