we've done this in the past when we couldn't read a student's script - simply out of fairness, not just because of a disabiltiy.

Subject: Exam Arrangements
Hi all
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on this?
I have a student who has dyspraxia as well as a long term (fairly severe) back condition.
His handwriting is of a fairly poor standard and he is getting marked down on this in exams. He currently has 25% extra time in place, a separate room and rest breaks (worth up to another 25% of time).
I have discussed with him the possibility of using a PC to type up the answer, rather than hand write but he said he finds hand writing much easier (and faster) and he finds that he can structure, spell and put the correct content on the page when hand writing rather than typing. A scribe would be another option but again, he feels if he had to verbally give the answer to someone he would not be able to give as good an answer if he were to hand write.
The final solution, which I admit we have never put in place for a student before, is for the student to hand write the answer and then pass the answer sheet to a scribe who will then type up the answer(s). The hand written, and electronic exam can both be submitted together.
Has anyone done something similar in the past? Any issues? Any other solutions?
Thanks
Tim
