On the OptOutUK website it says that they are 'regulated by the Information
Commissioner's Office'. Maybe the ICO would like to take up the invitation.
:-)
More seriously, I agree that their business model may in itself constitute a
breach of the Act.

I know this has been discussed but we are starting to get these now and it's
a bit of a Friday question. With only one person being a customer who we
fully suppress anyway because they told us, would I be wrong in considering
that the random S11 messaging of un-associated organisations is contrary to
the spirit of the Act and is actually disclosing personal names addresses
and emails well beyond the authorisation that these poor people are paying
to give?

Many thanks to all those who have replied on and off list to my query about
experiences of OptOutUK.
Someone on another list sent me this link:
http://www.pissedconsumer.com/reviews-by-company/opt-out-uk-ltd/timewasting-conartists-20130425403389.html
My client has come back and reported that out of the 350 names they were
sent, only eight appeared on their database. They are probably receiving
these because they are a prominent charity, not because people explicitly
want to stop hearing from them.
Putting it all together I think it's either a scam or a very poor service,
and probably not worth acting on because the risk of failing to act on a
genuine request must be very low.
Best wishes,
Paul
