I think this is an absolutely wonderful opportunity, as we have not previously had and SpLD Adviser the post holder will be in a position to help us develop our provision for students with SpLDs (we have over 800) and to really leave their mark upon the University. Birkbeck's focus on mature students studying in the evenings mean that we have perhaps the most diverse student body in the country, every student I work with is different, every day is different and brings new and exciting challenges. Purpose and Main Duties

Specific Learning Difficulties Advisor Ref: 10970 Permanent, part time position
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist advice and support for students with specific learning difficulties. You will also be responsible for monitoring standards and developing the service.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidates will be educated to degree level and qualified in working with adults with specific learning difficulties.
We are seeking a team player with excellent planning, organisational and management skills. You should have a clear understanding of how the organisational context impacts on the Disability Office.

Salary: £30,023 rising to £34,307 pro-rata per annum inclusive of London Allowance
This job is permanent and part time working 21 hours per week. The salary quoted above is pro-rata and inclusive of London allowance. The initial salary award will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment may be subject to a probationary period of up to six months. Birkbeck also provides a generous defined benefit pension scheme, 31 pro-rata days paid leave, flexible working arrangements and other great benefits.
