Thanks for that I thought I had completely misunderstood the DPA or I
was going mad! :)
I was at a meeting yesterday there it appears there is a misconception
that only sensitive personal data needs to be secure!

If it's your own personal device then that's at the owner's own risk.
But if it's a phone issued by an employer for work purposes then it
should have the same level of security as a work laptop or USB.
