For privacy or data protection professionals to perceive privacy only
as a facet of power becomes a dangerous and destructive thing because
it personalises and becomes confrontational rather than facilitating
understanding whilst seeking a common truth. Strength in character may
be needed to hold DP issues together, but that becomes a weakness when
holding rigidly to any particular organisational or social view rather
than including them within the mix. Tolerance is key if understanding
is to be achieved without being seen as mere manipulation.
