Intersections and Independence:
The Thirteenth Annual Multiple Perspectives on Access, Inclusion
& Disability:
April 16 - 17, 2013
Held on The Ohio State University's Columbus Campus
This year's theme focuses presenters on the frictions, synergies
and synthesis that occur at the boundaries of multiple roles,
identities and perspectives within individuals and between them. Some
possibilities to consider:
* Exploration the simultaneous influences of models of disability
(charity, medical, legal, social...) on individual experience, norms or
systems change;
* Universal Design, independence and identity;
* How disability influences gender, ethnic and racial identities
or how they influence disability identity development;
* Representations of disability.
* Variations in privilege and oppression across identities and
roles;
* Locating disability: person, place or attitude.
* Trends in law, education, business, public policy, ...
Preference will be given to presentations that encourage
conversations across the typical boundaries (care and independence,
education and employment, research and practice, business and
government, rights and charity ...) or focus broadly on difference by
incorporating parallels and contrasts with race, gender and ethnicity.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR MULTIPLE PERSPECTIVES 2013
Proposals are due January 6th , 2013
Proposals may be submitted
* by e-mail as an attachment (Word, Word Perfect, TXT, or RTF
formats)

Proposals must include:
1) Names and (as appropriate) titles and institutions/employers for
each presenter.
2) Contact information (phone, mailing address, and e-mail) if
there is more than one presenter please indicate one individual as the
contact and lead presenter.
3) Title of Presentation (12 words or less)
4) Short Description (30 words or less)
5) Full Description (700 words or less)
Please describe the content, focus and desired outcomes for the
presentation using these questions as a guide.
* What is the format of the presentation (Lecture, Panel,
Discussion, Performance, Other)?
* Who is the intended audience (educators, employers, businesses,
advocates, students, consumers, researchers, or other)?
* How familiar should the audience be with the topic (beginner,
intermediate, advanced)?
* What are your three main goals for the presentation?
* What will participants learn?
Please Note:
The full conference fees will be waived and lunch provided for
presenters of accepted proposals. Presenters are responsible for their
own travel and lodging.
UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENT POSTER COMPETITIONS

Poster Submissions are Due no later than March 15, 2013
The Multiple Perspectives Conference encourages students to
network with professionals, the community, and scholars who share their
interests in disability at its annual student poster reception. A
generous gift from the Ethel Louise Armstrong Foundation will fund
awards (Graduate Research - $500; Undergraduate Research $200, Art &
Performance $200 and Community Service $100, Class Projects $200 at this
year's competition.
Submissions may be based on:
1. Class Projects & Papers (Award goes to support future projects.
2. Independent & Supervised Student Research
3. Community Service & Applied Problem Solving from Service
Learning Classes or student organizations
4. Art & Performance
5.
Posters can take a variety of forms including print material
mounted on poster board or display panels or arranged on a table;
PowerPoint presentations, web pages or video presentations from your
laptop ...
* Presentation materials must fit on a 3'x6' table or along 6' or
less of wall space
* Presentation materials should present the information in 10
minutes or less
* Presenters or their designee must be present to interact with
the audience
* Presenters must provide their own equipment

Students and teams of students who wish to present a poster must
send the following information to [log in to unmask] no later than March
12, 2012
1. Title
2. Short Title - 12 word maximum
3. Poster Format (Print, Model, PowerPoint, Video, ...)
4. Description of their proposed poster topic - 250 word maximum
5. E-mail address, phone number, and surface mail address of
coordinating presenter
6. As appropriate, university, department, grant, course or student
organization affiliation
7. A letter of support from a faculty member or organization
advisor associated with the project
8. Name of individual, Department or Organization to receive cash
award should the project win.
Early submissions are encouraged. Submissions will be reviewed
as they arrive. Conference fees will be waived and lunch provided for
all accepted presenters.

What is "Multiple Perspectives"?
As a modern land grant university Ohio State University's mission
includes serving the community. Since 2001 The Ohio State University's
ADA Coordinator's Office has hosted Multiple Perspectives On Access
Inclusion & Disability. The conference offers a unique opportunity for
professionals, scholars and advocates to discuss the full spectrum of
disability issues and experiences. The annual gathering provides a
forum for individuals and organizations to share their knowledge;
broaden their perspectives; and increase community resources through the
synergy of collaboration

Each year Multiple Perspectives strives to present a program that can
serve as a catalyst for change; providing a springboard for
collaborations among individuals with and without disabilities working
in education, business, government and non-profits. The Conference's
presenters have included faculty, entrepreneurs, authors, artists and
advocates as well as representatives from The U.S. Access Board, The
EEOC, The Ohio Civil Rights Commission, The American Institute of
Architects, The U.S. Department of Education, and The Department of
Justice.

$2,000 and $3,000. Your support will be recognized on the web site and

Break & Reception Sponsors
There are several opportunities to sponsor food and beverages during the
student poster reception and various daily breaks. Sponsorships are
$1,500. Break sponsors will be recognized in the program and at the
break stations.
Conference Bag Sponsors
Increase awareness of your company or organization by having your logo
imprinted on all the conference bags for $1,000.
Friends
Friends are recognized for their contributions and in-kind support below
the $1,000 level.
Select Exhibit Space
Space in the registration and break area is available for a limited
number of exhibitors. Spaces include one 6' x 30" table, chairs, a
listing in the conference program, a conference registration (including
lunch), and an identification sign for $500.
Put Your Literature in their Hands
You can have your organization's literature pre-packaged in every
participant's packet. This is a great way to draw people to your
organization or product. Your cost is $75.00 for each brochure/pamphlet.
The Ken Campbell Memorial Lecture on Disability Policy
A highlight of the conference is a free public lecture hosted by the
Columbus Advisory Committee on Disability Issues to honor Campbell's
life's work as an advocate including over twenty years guiding the City
of Columbus' disability policies. Sponsorships can be earmarked to
support this lecture.
