PART-TIME LECTURER: DISABILITY STUDIES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & REHABILITATION SCIENCES FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES
We are looking for a dynamic, well informed applicant for a permanent part-time (25 hours a week) lecturer post in response to the growth of postgraduate programmes, particularly the growing demand for PhD in Disability Studies and continuing professional development in the field of Disability Studies. The main purpose of this position is teaching, research and academic management in Disability Studies.
Requirements:
• A PhD in Disability Studies or any related field of expertise
• At least two years’ teaching in disability studies or related field of expertise
• Research in field of Disability Studies with evidence of publications
The following will be advantageous:
• Experience with postgraduate supervision in Disability Studies
• Familiarity with disability from a rights based approach in Africa
Responsibilities:
• Convene Postgraduate Diploma in Disability Studies
• Contribute to course work teaching
• Supervise Masters’ and PhD students in the field of Disability Studies
• Develop own research programme
• Carry out related academic administration
• Contribute to growth of the Division and Department, which will include developing strong collaboration and continuous professional development of practitioners and policymakers in public, private and NGO sectors in African countries as well as relevant South-South and North-South links
