I agree with Brenda on point 1 - we would expect it to be less than 6 months old.
With regard to charging we generally charge the £10.00 up front for personal requests however, there has to be a certain amount of discretion with regard to people who do not have any money.
Charges over the £10.00 up to £50.00 are generally requested when the request has been completed and this is done via an invoice/letter.
We generally charge solicitors on completion and invoice at this point.
Up until this year we were not charging until completion, but we were ending up with people saying they no longer required the information.
Kind regards
Nigel

Hi Jane,
I would want a more recent form of authority.
Until they pay we do not supply any data with the exception of Section 29 requests when we do not charge.
Thanks
Brenda

Subject: [data-protection] Dates of Signed Form of Authority
Morning
I'm currently dealing with a DPA request from an organisation who assists homeless people.
They have provided a signed form of authority but it's dated 6th January 2011.
Would anyone be inclined to ask for a more recent form?
Also I'd be interested to know :-
1. Do any of your organisations waive the £10 fee? If so under what circumstances
2. Do you provide "credit" i.e. provide the info and then invoice
I have an organisation are asking to be invoiced. I have declined their request.
Thanks
