Hi Ros,
In the past we have set up the accounts ourselves and been invoiced by
the taxi company (the one approved by the University for taxi accounts).
The student is then charged for their public transport contributions and
any abuses (eg shopping trips, etc). We have a taxi agreement that the
student must sign, and we suspend their account if they do not pay their
contributions without good cause. We then invoice the funding body
minus the student contribution.
This year SFE has agreed to set up accounts on behalf of their students.
They required 3 quotes and the student's timetable. We passed the
information to SFE for students who have had an account with us.
Although we supplied three quotes, the accounts were set up with the
company we were already using. We are referring new students straight
to SFE if they have DSA approval.
We still set up accounts for students who are not with SFE or for
interim support.
I hope that helps

Subject: Accounts for taxis/ minicabs
Hi,
I am trying to ascertain whether most unis set up accounts on behalf of
their students for minicabs/ taxis? Our Finance department aren't keen
to do it and when we have done it previously we have had problems with a
number of issues including the public transport disregard. We are only
a small college with a small Finance department and it's quite a lot of
extra work.
If you do set up accounts what do you do about the public transport
costs?
Regards,
Ros

Subject: London taxi companies??
Hi
Can anyone suggest any any taxi companies that have
wheelchair-accessible vehicles (student uses powered chair and stays in
chair while travelling) other than GLH who cover East/South-East London
and, preferably, have experience of dealing directly with SFE? I'm
struggling to find a taxi service with available accessible vehicles.
Thanks
Ian Francis
