Disability Alliance are currently producing an updated version of the former Skill publication Into Higher Education for 2012 entry. I think this guide for disabled people planning to study at university is well known to many of you.
It answers common questions disabled students have and provides information on a range of topics including; funding changes for 2012, choosing a course, the application process, DSAs, disclosure, personal care and benefits information.
The guide will also include profiles written by disabled people about their experiences of higher education and we are still looking for one or two more case studies.
If you know any current students who might be interested in being featured, please encourage them to get in touch. As well as helping to inspire others, there are some incentives to participate which I can discuss outside the forum.
The guide should be out early in October. It will be a free publication.
We are also looking for partners who can take copies of Into Higher Education 2012 in bulk and help us distribute it through their open days, events and outreach work.
Thanks
Tony Stevens
