Whilst it may be the case in the US, in my understanding, mens rea is not necessarily needed in this country. I wonder if this makes us different from the US?
You have the issues of intent and negligence, but now I am well into territory of which I know little enough to be dangerous!

An anticipated growth in white collar crime (in my opinion mainly
driven and affected by the information/surveillance society) seems to
be drawing some attention at last.
Recognizing that DPA offences are
of a white collar type is there any direct indication the UK has also
started to focus in this area?
