Maybe I am interpreting things too literatlly. Clearly students need
reasonable adjustments. However, the suggestion of marking disabled
students differently worries me, as it is important that they are not
seen as having lesser achievements or having been allowed to attain a
degree.
I would have thought most exam questions other than those dealing
specifically with metaphor or literary style should be answered fairly
literally. Markers should not be interpreting what a student meant. Or
am I missing something.
I also wonder whether anyone has discussed this with the student and
what adjustments if any have been suggested for them. This sounds to me
as though the concerned grandfather is suggesting something that may not
be either relevant or appropriate.
