Tutor/ Initial Assessor for Students with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Disabilities, SpLD (part-time .5952fte)
Starting salary: pro-rata to £28,251, rising annually to £30,870
You will be:
· actively and collaboratively working with the dyslexia team
· reading and interpreting diagnostic assessment reports, and taking appropriate action to plan and deliver effective study skills support
· responding effectively, appropriately and in a timely manner to requests for support
· promoting the use of studying and learning through a variety of assistive technology strategies, demonstrating key features to students enabling effective self access and study
· undertaking initial dyslexia/SpLD screening as appropriate
· actively networking to develop own knowledge and understanding of current developments
· promoting equality, disability legislation and the disability and dyslexia service
· preserving the confidential nature of the service provided
· working across all campuses
You should have:
· a first degree
· a certificate in dyslexia/SpLD
· experience of delivering study skills in the post-16 sector
· experience in the use of assistive technology
· the ability to deliver study skills to students with dyslexia/specific learning difficulties
· a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
· the ability to carry out pre-assessment screening and respond to different learning styles
· the ability to work under pressure
· a flexible approach to working hours to meet fluctuating demands
· a high level of attention to detail
· the ability to communicate effectively with students and to problem-solve independently
· an ability to work with students on crisis
· good IT Skills
· demonstrable commitment to equal opportunities
