Hello everyone,
I've just started work on "a participatory project to develop guidance
for good practice in assisting visually impaired STEM students, with
particular emphasis on inclusive laboratory provision and positive pre
entry outreach" -
http://projects.hestem-sw.org.uk/project-page.php?pid=212&page=summary.
(STEM stand for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.)
An important part of this is creating an online social network to
allow discussion and sharing of information and resources between
visually impaired students, and although I am visually impaired myself
I wondered if anyone here has any suggestions about the most
accessible social networking tools. Twitter and Facebook do not have
enough functionality, so I am currently considering Ning. I have
looked at the information available from www.web2access.org.uk but as
it is from 2009 and Ning has changed since then it is a little out of
date. Once I get past the potential difficulties of signing up the
content is within my own control, so I can manage the accessibility of
that to some degree, but there may be something better out there.
Any suggestions?
