whilst Arial & Verdana are good, many will say Comic Sans is better since it is warmer, rounder and does not have the problem that Arial does of similar or even the same symbol for some letters.

I would say that 14 point should be the baseline and Arial or Verdana the font.
One thing that has been drummed into us by our Learning Support Team is that the paper used should not be any stage of bright white and preferably a cream or even a pastel shade if that's possible.

Subject: Font & Size - Best Practice
Dear All,
I have recently moved jobs, and I am putting together procedures for a range of student Support functions. Part of this work is looking at the production of printed information that is sent out to potential and existing students. I know in my previous role it was considered best practice for all communications to be sent out in Arial font, size 12 or above.
Would others concur with this, or possibly point me in the direction of current thinking in the sector? I have the unique opportunity to start from scratch on many of the processes and procedures that are in place in the college, so I feel it is important to ensure that we are also ensuring we are in tune with current thinking.
Many thanks,
Simon Morris | Student Support Manager
