Is 16 specific for CCTV then ? It isn't a school record as we hold the
CCTV. For ordinary SARS there is no set age in Wales, just if you think
the child has sufficient mental maturity.
Off list it has been said to me that the accused child is innocent until
proved guilty and has a right to privacy....
Thanks

Brenda - I thought in England Wales a child must be aged 16 to make such
a request. It's only in Scotland that a child over 12 can be deemed old
enough to make such a request. We had a similar incident and involved
Police and through mediation it was resolved.
Not much help I know...sorry.

Subject: CCTV
A child (12 - 13 years old) has requested CCTV footage of a school bus
when he alleges he was assaulted. We consider him old enough to make his
own request.
I say we have to blurr out the faces of the other children on the bus -
but what about the one who he says assaulted him ? If the footage
confirms his claim should we leave that child face visible ?
Any advice gratefully received.
