Hi Jane - technically I suppose you could give the information out on their client i.e. that a complaint had been made under DP but the other information would have to be refused as it relates to a third party. On the other hand, the third party infornation could be logged as FOISA and exempted under the personal information exemption - (Section 38) in Scotland not sure the English equivalent.

Subject: DP/FOI Request?
Hello
My brain is refusing to kick start today (which seems to be happening
more frequently these days!) so your help is appreciated.
Received a letter from a firm of solicitors asking for confirmation that
there client has made a complaint to the Council against a named
individual (clients authority is enclosed) and what if any action was
taken against the named individual i.e. not their client.
How would you suggest I handle this request? DP and FOI?
Thanks
