From time to time, inevitably, we get complaints that we have breached the DP principles, and sometimes we have to accept that we have - hopefully in most cases in a minor way !
I would be interested to hear how others deal with giving a response /apology. In theory, a breach may give rise to compensation under s13 DPA or an action for damages if a duty of confidence was involved.
Do you in such circumsatnces admit a breach of DP principles occurred or just offer a fudged apology ? If the former do you inform or liaise with your insurers before doing so (assuming you are covered for breaches of statutory duty) ?
